Form controls use the system accentColor
(which authors can access but not set in CSS), unless we provide an accent-color
(which authors can set but not access in CSS).
Obviously.

We can’t set accentColor
for good reason. That gives us CSS access to the operating system accent color, which can also be set by users.
And we don’t necessarily need CSS access to the accent-color
because… we set it. We can set it from a variable, and access that variable if we want.

Wow, thanks, TIL! I’m using #CSS system colors frequently when tweaking things for High Contrast Mode (a.k.a. Contrast Themes), but did not know about AccentColor
and AccentColorText
.
I’ve updated my old blog post about accent-color and linked to your toot.
